Voice Care When You're Tired, Tip #5
When your body is tired, its support of your voice will be limited in some ways.
So Tip #5 is basically: Learn to enjoy silence. Rest your voice whenever you are tired, sick, or irritated.
One person's body will compensate in one way and another person's body will compensate in another way. When your body is tired, its full support of your vocal equipment is compromised and perhaps distorted. When you are sick, whatever lack your body experiences and whatever compensation it makes will extend to your voice if you keep using it.
Furthermore, when you are irritated, the body's support of the voice can become distorted enough to make itself heard as tension or shrillness in the voice. Vocal cords adapt themselves to the distortion.
Continued voice use over the years in the presence of bodily tiredness, illness, or irritation creates chronic sounds of tiredness, illness, or irritation in the voice.
So rest your voice when tired, sick, or irritated. Learn to enjoy silence.
