The Listenary

Someone who listens is someone who follows.

It takes work to follow where someone else might lead and not jump in to go my own way. I picture it as if I have come to visit a friend who has a beautiful garden and orchard and vineyard. He greets me with shining eyes and takes me around to show me all the marvels in his world. While I’m with him, he discovers the grapes are in bloom or the tomatoes are setting or the corn is breaking ground. He shows me in awe and I delight in whatever he wants to show me.
