Foot Health: A Good Under-Standing
Jesus touched their feet, and then He said, "Do you understand what I have done to you? You should do for one another as I have done for you." I think Jesus knew and here taught the power of touch, especially the power of touching the feet.
During your lifetime, you will walk more than 100,000 miles. A 125-pound woman, wearing high heels, strikes the ground with an impact of over 900 pounds with each step. A 150-pound jogger, running 3 miles, accumulates an impact of 150 tons on each foot.
Each foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, and 19 muscles. The 52 bones in your feet make up about one fourth of all the bones in your body. There are some 250,000 sweat glands in your feet, excreting as much as half a pint of moisture each day.
Your feet need socks that breathe, shoes with room to wiggle, walking for exercise, and a massage once in awhile.
Jesus touched their feet. "Do you understand?" He said. Had they been in tune with Him and their own bodies, perhaps they would have felt the revitalizing of circulation, the energizing of muscle and skin tone, the stimulation of nerves and connected organs.
How I would love to have His hands on my feet for just two minutes! I wonder if I would understand. I know I would have a better under-standing.
